NRBC Non Pro Classic Breaks Records!

April 16, 2012 Off By Roberta Johnston

A record-breaking number of 182 contestants have entered the Non Pro division of the 2012 National Reining Breeders Classic – set to begin at 9 am on Monday, April 16.

The previous record of 170 was set in 2008, and at the time was not only the largest NRBC Non Pro class, but also the largest Non Pro aged-event ever in the history of the National Reining Horse Association.

“We had a great influx of Non Pros in 2008, and then the numbers dropped slightly but stayed fairly consistent the next several years. This year, the entries for the Non Pro flooded in – and we’re really excited that this year’s event is so large,” noted Cheryl Cody, who serves as the NRBC Secretary/Treasurer. “We also currently have 204 entries in the Open division, which is just a few off from last year. Since people can enter the Open up until 30 minutes after the conclusion of the Non Pro preliminaries, we expect that number to rise, too.”

The NRBC, held annually at the Great Southwest Equestrian Center in Katy, Texas, will be available via live webcast thanks to Barb and Dick Waltenberry of Waltenberry Productions. The webcast can be accessed at www.waltenberry.com.

The National Reining Breeders Classic is the most successful stallion incentive program in reining history. In just fourteen years, the NRBC has grown to include nearly 200 subscribed stallions. Annually, the payout at the National Reining Breeders Classic exceeds $1.4 million. For information on the NRBC, visit the web site at www.nrbc.com or call 580-759-3939.
