2010 American Hanoverian Society Elections

This fall the American Hanoverian Society will hold elections for five open positions on the AHS board, in addition to the elected members of the Nominations and Membership (3), Breeding Technology (2) and Finance (1) committees. In accordance with AHS bylaws, the official Call for Nominations will be published in the Fall issue of The American Hanoverian quarterly magazine.

To date, 10 qualifed individuals have been nominated for the board, five persons have declared for the Nominations and Membership Committee, two for the Finance Committee, and two for the Breeding Technology Committee. To run for office, the candidate must be a current year Active member of the AHS; additionally, board candidates are required to have been an Active member of the association for three (3) consecutive years prior to their nomination for office.

Nominations for qualified individuals may be sent to Executive Director Hugh Bellis-Jones at [email protected]. Alternatively nominations may be sent to one of the members of the Nominations Committee, namely Diane Nauman ([email protected]), Judy Hedreen ([email protected]), Cathy Tucker-Slaterbeck ([email protected]), Pat Limage ([email protected]), James Brown ([email protected]), and Mary Lou Winn ([email protected]).

The Committee will determine the final slate during the last week of October, ballots will be mailed to eligible voters no later than December 7 (probably earlier), and again, in accordance with AHS bylaws, ballots must be postmarked and returned to the independent auditor who will tally the results, by no later than January 5, 2011.

The AHS board believes that this democratic process is one of the strengths of the association; we thank you for your participation in this aspect of society governance.
