		<description><![CDATA[.   [Contributed by TSE/Tattersalls] Lexington, Kentucky &#8211; Teater Saddlebred Enterprises, Inc. conducted its Fall Sale on October 29, 30 and 31, 2009 at the historic Red Mile Pavilion in Lexington, Kentucky. There were 509 catalogued entrants for the three-day sale. OUTs constituted 19% of the catalogue while Reserve Not Attained (RNA) held at 7% of sales. Top horses were both presented and sold for respectable prices, yet the average for horse sold fell just slightly from 2008’s Fall Sale, to $4,087. In an economy that has affected every business, the Saddlebred industry bore small witness to the uncertainties of a challenging market. “There is always more than one way to interpret the data,” stated TSE/Tattersalls President, Ed Teater. The broodmare market softened, an implication that long-term investment is difficult during challenging times. The market for more liquid investments appeared solid however, as the sale of the young, well-started horses remained stable. “This can be interpreted as encouraging for our industry during economic downturn and recovery,&#8221; continued Teater. “We witnessed well-bred, well-prepared young horses rewarded with comparable bids.
