The San Antonio Livestock Exposition, Inc. (S.A.L.E.), “a volunteer organization that emphasizes agriculture and education to develop the youth of Texas,” is proud to announce the election of Joe Soules as the new Chairman of the Board. Ronnie Urbanczyk and Randy Vaclavik were also elected to the Executive Committee and will serve as Vice Presidents.

Joe Carlton Soules began his involvement with S.A.L.E. in 1993 as an avid supporter and buyer at the Junior Livestock Auction. Mr. Soules was also a volunteer on the Auction Committee. He became a Life Member and Director in 2001. At work in the San Antonio community, Soules was a co-founder of Luke Soules Inc., a sales and marketing company serving the food industry and one of the first corporate partners of the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo.

Under Soules leadership as President & CEO, Luke Soules Inc. was regionalized, then sold to Acosta Sales and Marketing – a nationally recognized firm that continues to partner with S.A.L.E. During his career, Soules served on numerous industry advisory boards including H. J. Heinz, The Clorox Co., R. J. R. Nabisco, American Home Foods and Quaker Oats.

Soules retired from Acosta Sales and Marketing in 2006. He and his wife, Marie, have two children, Joe Carlton Soules Jr. and Teri Barnett.  They also have four grandchildren.

Ronnie Urbanczyk became a Life Member in 1996 and a Director for S.A.L.E. in 2005. His most recent leadership position was as Chairman of the Auction Committee, which he held from 2009-2013. Mr. Urbanczyk joins the S.A.L.E. Executive Committee as a Vice President and will serve a three-year term.

Randy Vaclavik became a Life Member in 2002 and has served two terms as a Director of S.A.L.E., first serving as a Director from 2003-2006 and then again in 2012 to the present. Mr. Vaclavik joins the S.A.L.E. Executive Committee as a Vice President and will serve a three-year term.

2013 also marks the end of terms for several S.A.L.E. Executive Committee members. Former Chairman of the Board, Steve Bridges, has been a member of the Executive Committee since 2003, serving as a Vice President from 2003-2006, President from 2006-2009, Vice President again from 2009-2010 and Chairman of the Board from 2010-2013. Mr. Bridges became a Life Member in 1994 and a Director in 1997.

Tom Loeffler leaves the Executive Committee this year after 11 years serving as a Vice President. Mr. Loeffler became a Life Member in 2000 and a Director in 2001.

Vice President John B. Zachry began his role as an Executive Committee member in 2010 and continued in the position of Vice President through 2013. Mr. Zachry became a life member and a Director in 2010.

The San Antonio Livestock Exposition, Inc. has a rich tradition and history of stewardship to the community, agriculture industry and youth of Texas. With a clear vision of the future, a successful past and continual dedication from over 5,500 volunteers, S.A.L.E. will continue to provide wholesome family entertainment and be a pillar of strength and support to the youth of Texas.
