Gunners Tinseltown and McQuay Sit Atop NRHA Open Futurity Standings

The National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) Futurity & Adequan® North American Affiliate Championship (NAAC) Show in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma completed the second go-round, second section of the $540,000-added NRHA Open Futurity on Tuesday. One section remains to determine who will qualify for $1.5 million final on Saturday, December 1.

Tim McQuay moved to the top of the composite standings with a 444 aboard Gunners Tinseltown (Gunner x Miss Tinseltown by Great Red Pine). The NRHA Professional from Tioga, Texas marked a 222 in both go-rounds on the stallion owned by David Silva, Sr. (Tolland, Conn.). They lead the $280,000 added level 4 open division.

Sitting in second place in the level 4 open division is Gunners Star (Rr Star x Gunners Smokin Jane by Gunner) and NRHA Two Million Dollar Rider Craig Schmersal (Overbrook, Okla.) with a 219 in the second go-round for a 443 composite score. The American Paint Horse gelding is owned by Frank Costantini, Jr. and Bill Bradley.

Leading the $145,000-added level 3 open division is Bella Juice (Smart Like Juice x Bella Conquistador by Conquistador Whiz) and NRHA Professional Luke Gagnon (Gainesville, Texas) with a composite score of 439 after earning a 218.5 in the second go-round. Cache Performance Horses, LLC of Bosalt, Colo. is the owner.

Callme Mister Mister (Mister Dual Pep x Travelin With Sass by Travelena) and Chris Dawson (Jacksboro, Texas) earned a 221 for their second go-round score. Their composite score of 435 gave them the lead in the $75,000 added level 2 open division for owner Stephen Roseberry of Urbana, Ohio.

Wound Up Wimp (Wimpys Little Step x Wind Her Up Chic by Smart Chic Olena) and NRHA Professional Matthew Armenta (Whitesboro, Tex.) held their lead in the $35,000 added level 1 open division for owner Carl Lambert (Hempstead, Tex.). They added a 217 to their first go-round score of 216.5 for a 433.5 composite score.

The top open horse and rider combinations, based on composite scores from the first and second go-round, will advance to the NRHA Open Futurity Finals on Saturday, December 1 where the winner of the level 4 open division will earn $165,000 as well as incredible prizes from NRHA Corporate Partners and award sponsors.
