Palmer and Mr Moth Money Sweep Adequan NAAC Classes

The world’s best open riders battled it out in the final section of the $540,00-added NRHA Open the National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) Futurity & Adequan® North American Affiliate Championship (NAAC). With today’s runs completed, reining fans moved one step closer to seeing the NRHA Futurity Open Champion earn $165,000 in the highest paying NRHA Futurity purse in history ($2,160,000 projected).

NRHA’s finest put it all on the line in the final section of the go-round. At the end of the day, two horse-and-rider teams jumped ahead of the field and ended with matching 447 composite scores: Americasnextgunmodel (Gunner x Cee Dun It Do It by Hollywood Dun It) with NRHA Professional Casey Deary (Weatherford, Tex.) and Yankee Gun (Rowdy Yankee x Snow Gun by Gunner) with NRHA Four Million Dollar Rider Shawn Flarida (Springfield, Ohio).

Americasnextgunmodel, owned by Dana Conrad, won the level 4 open division at the 2012 High Roller Reining Classic Futurity and placed third in the level 4 open division at the 2012 NRHA Cowtown Classic Pre Futurity with Deary aboard.

Yankee Gun, owned by Arcese Quarter Horses USA (Weatherford, Texas), and Flarida won the 2012 All American Quarter Horse Congress Open Futurity and placed in the top five at the Hollywoodstinseltown Open Futurity.

The top composite score in the $145,000 added level 3 open division (439.5) went to Wimpys High Bid (Wimpys Little Step x Lucky Little Jewel by Smart Little Lena) and NRHA Professional Jason Vanlandingham (Whitesboro, Texas) Wimpys High Bid, owned by Vaughn Zimmerman  (Springfield, Mo.) and Vanlandginham have earned nearly $26,000 together this year with top finishes at the NRHA Cowtown Classic, Southwest Reining Horse Association Futurity and Hollywoodstinseltown Open Futurity.

The high composite score in the $75,000 added level 2 open division and $35,000 added level 1 open division went to Pedro Baiao (Maysville, Okla.) aboard Wimpys Cable Lena. They earned a 439 for owner Robert Anderson of Flanders, N.J.

The top open horse and rider combinations, based on composite scores from the first and second go-round, will advance to the NRHA Open Futurity Finals on Saturday, December 1 where the winner of the level 4 open division will earn $165,000 as well as incredible prizes from NRHA Corporate Partners and award sponsors.

Competition continued in the Adequan North American Affiliate Championships with the NAAC Non Pro, Intermediate Non Pro and Prime Time Non Pro classes. The Mountain region’s Claudette Palmer (Washington, Utah) piloted her Mr Moth Money (Jerry Lees Surprise x Miss Moth Money) to a score of 219.5 to win all three championship titles. Mr Moth Money has earned more than $45,600 in NRHA competition. The team won the Adequan NAAC Novice Horse Non Pro Level 1 championship earlier this week.

Three entries tied for the reserve title in the Adequan NAAC Non Pro and Prime Time Non Pro (219): the East Central regiona’s Susan Flynn (Ashland, Ky.) aboard Colonel Tinseltown (Gunner x Dun It In Tinseltown), Northwest Region’s Debi Murnan (Grass Valley, Calif.) riding Chromer Simpson (Custom Crome x Chics Nifty Pine) and Southwest region’s Jon Gilbert (Dewey, Ariz.) with Cielo San Lewis (Cielo San Badger x Jessie Lewis).

Nancy Chandler Eppers (Krum, Texas) and Catomic Boom (Catomic x Burgundy Rosebud) took the reserve title in the Adequan NAAC Intermediate Non Pro for the South Central region with a 218. Eppers represents the South Central region and owns the 2006 stallion.

Upcoming Activities at the Futurity
Make plans to attend Thursday night’s main event  – the $100,000-added NRHA Open World Championship Shootout presented by Equine Sports Medicine. It’s an “Open-to-the-World” class where the top Open reining horses on the planet will compete in a dramatic showdown for the winner’s estimated purse of $30,000. Entries include 2012 NRHA Open World Championship contenders Rr Hi Ho Star, Sail On Top Whizard and Dreamy Little Sailor. Opening ceremonies will begin at 6:30 p.m.

Thursday will be the first of three days for reining’s premier horse sales – the NRHA / Markel Insurance Futurity Sales.
