RODEO AUSTIN TO HOST SUPER SHOOTOUT RODEO FOR 75TH ANNIVERSARY OPENER

Rodeo Austin is proud to announce that it will host its first ever Super Shootout presented by Mattress Firm. This supercharged event will kick off the anniversary celebration on Saturday, March 10, 2012. Showcasing the best competition to hit the arena, the Super Shootout presented by Mattress Firm is a four event challenge that pits the worldÂ’s best athletes in a head to head battle for the right to be called Champion.

“We’re pulling out all the stops for the 75th Anniversary,” says Bucky Lamb, Chief Executive Officer. “The Super Shootout will showcase some of the best competition to hit the Rodeo Arena. The night will come alive with jaw dropping action and high stakes plus a stellar concert by Eli Young Band to round out the Super Shootout.” The first name released from the 2012 Anniversary Line-Up, Eli Young Band will take the stage after the exhilarating extreme action event.

This invitational event features twelve contestants each in Bareback Riding, Saddle Bronc Riding, Barrel Racing and Bull Riding events, competing for $50,000 in prize money. Rodeo Austin is proud to partner with Mattress Firm to host this unique event. “The Super Shootout brings together top athletes in Rodeo for a thrilling night of athletic feats and entertainment. The winning contestant in each of the four Super Shootout events (Bareback Riding, Saddle Bronc Riding, Barrel Racing and Bull Riding) from the following top 11 North American rodeos will be invited to Rodeo AustinÂ’s Super Shootout presented by Mattress Firm:

§ Cheyenne Frontier Days – Cheyenne, Wyoming

§ National Western Stock Show – Denver, Colorado

§ Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo – Fort Worth, Texas

§ RodeoHouston – Houston, Texas

§ Pendleton Round-Up – Pendleton, Oregon

§ Reno Rodeo – Reno, Nevada

§ Rodeo Salinas – Salinas, California

§ San Angelo Stock Show and Rodeo – San Angelo, Texas

§ San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo – San Antonio, Texas

§ Rodeo Austin – Austin, Texas

In addition to the top 11 rodeos, one slot in each event will be awarded to TEAM RODEO AUSTIN members Chet Johnson, Angie Meadors, Brian Bain and J.W. Harris.

Tickets for the 2012 Super Shootout presented by Mattress Firm will go on sale to the public, Friday January 27th at www.RodeoAustin.com. Proceeds from the 16-day Fair & Rodeo each March support Rodeo AustinÂ’s Scholarship Program which has awarded over $5 million to Texas students.
