The National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) Futurity & AdequanR North American Affiliate Championship (NAAC) Show rolled on today in Oklahoma City. As competitors battled it out in the final section of the $170,000 added NRHA Open Futurity and in the $105,000 added Cinch / NRHA Non Pro Futurity consolation round, the leader board continued to take shape.

Flarida and Shine Chic Shine Lead Open Composite Shawn Flarida and Shine Chic Shine marked a 226.5 to regain the lead in the Level 4 Open Futurity. Flarida rode the three-year-old stallion by Smart Chic Olena, owned by Amabile & Strusiner of Grandview, Texas, to 227.5 during the first go round. The duo now has a 454 composite score and solid five-point lead going into Saturday night’s Open Futurity Finals, which will award the winner of the level 4 open a check for $125,000 as well as incredible prizes from NRHA Corporate Partners and award sponsors.

Andrea Fappani earned the Open Futurity’s highest score yet during the third and final section of Open go round. The Two Million Dollar Rider marked a 227.5 aboard Colonels Shining Gun, a Gunner stallion owned by Rancho Oso Rio of Cave Creek, Arizona. They’re in second with a composite score of 449.

Tim McQuay of Tioga, Texas was named the Prime Time Open Futurity champion. This division winner is determined by the composite score of the first and second go round. The NRHA Million Dollar Rider and Owner marked a 455 composite aboard McQuay Stables’ Always Gotyer Gunsup, a mare by his NRHA Two Million Dollar Sire Gunner.

Armenta Takes High Score in Non Pro Consolation The Non Pro Consolation round offered another opportunity for nearly 50 exhibitors to qualify for Friday’s Cinch Non Pro Futurity finals. Earning the high score of 217 to claim his spot in Friday’s finals was Matthew Armenta riding his stallion Missin The Bud (by Nic It In The Bud). Nearly 20 non pro riders advanced to the finals according to the conditions of the Non Pro Consolation round.

Boer and Hippensteel Win NAAC Top Honors Competition continued in the AdequanR North American Affiliate Championships with the NAAC Non Pro, Intermediate Non Pro, and Prime Time Non Pro classes. Julie Boer, Rigby, Idaho, represented the Northwest Region well by claiming both the NAAC Non Pro and NAAC Intermediate Non Pro championship titles. Boer scored a 220 aboard her six-year-old mare Taris Little Lilly. The duo also won 2009 NAAC Intermediate Non Pro championship.

Bonnie Hippensteel, Ocala, Florida rode Hes Justa Benz to a 219 and the NAAC Prime Time Non Pro championship. Hippensteel and her six-year-old gelding were also the Prime Time Non Pro champions at their NAAC qualifying competition, the Southeast Regional Affiliate Finals.

Make plans to attend Thursday night’s main event at 7pm – the $100,000 added NRHA World Championship Shootout, sponsored by Equine Sports Medicine and Kyle Tack. It’s an “Open-to-the-World” class where the top Open reining horses on the planet will compete in a dramatic showdown for the winner’s estimated purse of $30,000. In addition, the 2010 NRHA Open World Champion will be recognized and honored at the show – even though the World Champion and the Shootout winner may not be the same. Entries will include:
