The Great Southwest Autumn Classic proved to be a huge success for Nordic Lights Farm this past weekend in Katy, TX. Talented junior riders Eirin Bruheim and Lene Bruheim received top accolades in the both the hunter and jumper rings aboard their incredible mounts throughout the week.

Eirin Bruheim kicked the week off with an exciting win during the $5,000 1.35m Open Jumper Class with NLF Trans Atlantic. The duo completed a double clear effort to take home the blue ribbon prize. The next day, she showed NLF Trans Atlantic and Qarco V’T Merelsnest in the $5,000 1.35m Open Jumper class where she advanced to the jump-off with both mounts and placed sixth and seventh, respectively.

Over the weekend, Eirin continued her success in the Open Jumper divisions. She competed with her sister’s horse, NLF Valhall, in the $5,000 1.25m Mini Prix and once again scored the winning prize. Eirin then showed in the $10,000 1.40m Classic with Cicero 75. The pair made an excellent effort over the difficult track and was awarded the third place honors.

“All of my horses were excellent,” expressed Eirin. “They all jumped wonderfully and it was really fun to show my sister’s horse in the Mini Prix. NLF Trans Atlantic and Cicero 75 are both really stepping up and I am excited to show them again this weekend.”

Lene Bruheim spent this weekend showing in more difficult divisions as she prepares for the 2011 show season. She moved up to the Low Junior/Amateur-Owner Jumpers with NLF Valhall where the pair placed sixth for their first effort at the new height. Lene also moved up to the 3’3” Junior/Amateur-Owner Hunter division with NLF Casabella. After earning a first place ribbon, a second place ribbon, and two third place ribbons, the pair garnered the reserve championship title.

“NLF Valhall and NLF Casabella were both amazing this weekend,” commented Lene. “NLF Casabella was calm and listening and put in some great rounds; I couldn’t be happier with her. NLF Valhall took such good care of me as we moved up a division. They’re both wonderful horses and put their heart into it for me.”

The Bruheim sisters are now gearing up for their final show of the 2010 season, The Final Chase. The competition will be held at the Great Southwest Equestrian Center in Katy, TX, and will run November 17-21, 2010.

Nordic Lights Farm is a 70-acre establishment located in Tomball, TX, that was founded in 2007 by the Bruheim family to help further the equestrian goals of 18-year-old Eirin Bruheim and 16-year-old Lene Bruheim. Both girls have worked their way up through the ranks and are currently competing at the top levels in the hunter and jumper divisions aboard their incredible string of horses.
