The in-arena action of the 2010 Southwest Reining Horse Association Futurity show concluded Friday evening with the National Reining Horse Association Open. When the results were finalized, it was Jordan Larson who won the Championship, with a score of 152.5 on Out Shinin Wimpy. Larson and Out Shinin Wimpy, owned by the Dorminy Plantation, took home $1,202, a Bob’s Custom Saddle, and a C.R. Morrison bronze.
“She was pretty good. She always stops big,” Larson said following the awards ceremony. “We over-turned a little to the left – I wish we hadn’t done that – but she was good.”
Larson’s customers, John and Katarina Dorminy, purchased Out Shinin Wimpy as a 2-year-old, and she’s been in Larson’s barn from the beginning. The Wimpys Little Step mare, out of Shinaka, has accumulated quite the resume, including the Championship of the $25,000 Added NRHA Open at the National Reining Breeders Classic. “She’s a great stopper and has an awesome mind,” he said. “I really appreciate John and Katarina for the opportunity to ride her.”
Jared LeClair and High Roller Rooster, owned by Cam Bearden, won the Reserve Championship with a 152. LeClair and High Roller Rooster, by Gallo Del Cielo out of Hustlers High Roller, took home $955 and Anderson Bean boots.
