NRHA Nomination Running Past Previous Standards

September 16, 2010 Off By Roberta Johnston

According to the latest count of weanling nominations received for the NRHA Nomination Program, reiners around the world are enthused about the program’s lucrative purses and nominator’s incentive. As of August 31, 2010, weanling nominations increased more than 70% over 2009 year-to-date comparisons. As of the date of this release, a total 200 nominations were submitted to NRHA showing the strongest support since the inception of the program.

Weanling nomination payments are only $300 through December 31 of the foal’s weanling year and makes the foal eligible for nearly $2.5 million in purses each year when it reaches competition age. Nearly 2,900 nominations were received by year-end in 2009.

The NRHA Nomination Program involves a one-time, simple payment to make a nominated foal eligible to enter the NRHA Futurity as a three-year-old and the NRHA Derby as a four-, five- and six-year-old. If a nominator also wishes to make the foal eligible for the NRHA European Futurity and NRHA European Derby, a 78€ European option fee can be made at the same time. A similar process is in place to nominate European-born foals. Find more information about this program and its North American and European components, visit www.nrha.com.
