ASHA/SHOT to hold show concurrently with AQHA Versatility Ranch Horse competition

The American Stock Horse Association (ASHA) and Stock Horse of Texas (SHOT) are excited to announce a partnership with AQHA to concurrently run an ASHA/SHOT approved show in conjunction with an AQHA Versatility Ranch Horse class during the Texas Classic in Fort Worth, Texas, May 29-31, 2010.

“This is an unprecedented opportunity for exhibitors to earn AQHA points on their horses while simultaneously earning ASHA and SHOT points,” said Kim Lindsey, Executive Director of SHOT. “We are excited we were able to combine the events so that our exhibitors have the chance to earn points in all three associations at one show.”

To be eligible to show in the combined ASHA/SHOT and AQHA class, exhibitors must show in either the Non Pro or Open division of ASHA/SHOT and meet membership/eligibility requirements of all three associations. The show will follow a regular ASHA/SHOT schedule, with AQHA exhibitors adding ranch cutting and ranch conformation to their list of classes.

Exhibitors in Ranch Pleasure, Ranch Trail, Reining and Working Cow Horse/AQHA Working Ranch Horse will have one run in each class that will be simultaneously scored according to ASHA/SHOT rules for that competition, and following the AQHA scorecard for the AQHA class. The class will be placed separately on each scorecard.

The ASHA/SHOT and AQHA Versatility Ranch Horse shows will be part of Ranch-A-Palooza held during the last weekend of the Texas Classic. In addition to the ASHA/SHOT and AQHA Versatility Ranch Horse class, Ranch-A-Palooza will also include a Ranch Horse Association of America (RHAA) show. At the conclusion of all of the competitions, high point awards will be presented to the top RHAA horse, AQHA Versatility Ranch Horse, SHOT horse and an overall Champion Ranch-A-Palooza horse.

“We are excited to offer this selection of ranch horse classes at the Texas Classic,” said Brad Ettleman, President of HorsePower, the show management company in charge of the Texas Classic. “Next year, we plan to also offer a Youth AQHA Versatility Ranch Horse class, and an APHA Ranch Horse class as well.”

The Texas Classic, held at the prestigious Will Rogers Memorial Center, is the largest AQHA approved show in the state of Texas, and ranks as one of the top show destinations in the nation. The show typically draws more than 12,000 entries and awards thousands of AQHA points.
