Liberty County 4-H Mounted Drill Team Membership Drive

The Liberty County 4-H Mounted Drill Team will be beginning its 2009-2010 membership drive beginning with the annual kick-off business meeting. The meeting will be held at the Liberty County Extension Office located at 2103 Cos Street, 7:00 pm on October 22nd. Those wishing to join are encouraged to attend. This 4-H Club is open to novice horse enthusiasts as well as experienced riders who have a desire to learn better horsemanship skills. The requirements for being on the team are: minimum age 9 (or in the 3rd grade) and maximum age 18 on September 1st 2009, a horse with negative coggins, a willingness to listen, to learn, and to be a team player. The team also accepts members from surrounding counties that do not have an equestrian drill team program. If you join the team you will be a member of the Liberty County 4-H Mounted Drill Team Club.

Those interested in joining the team are encouraged to come and watch them practice as they prepare for their performance at the TVE October PRCA Rodeo, B-Team will perform Tuesday night October 13th and A-Team will perform Wednesday night, October 14th. A-Team practices on Monday nights and B-Team on Tuesday nights 7:00 pm at the TVE Arena.

The Liberty County 4-H Mounted Drill Team was established in 1968 by Drillmaster Tommy Small. They have held the State Championship in either Precision Riding or Drill Team for the past five years in a row and in 2007 held the Championship title for both drills.
